A jellyfish and a tick walk into a bar

Hello Tuesday,

It’s unseasonably warm. The leaves have forgotten their humble summer skin and are blazing up and down the streets in brilliant reds and yellows. I swam in the ocean yesterday even though there were a few jellyfish about (I am terribly, irrationally, burst-into-tears-and-run-away afraid of jellyfish).

Warmly inviting ticks into our bloodstream at Blomidon on the weekend. Those cigarettes are NOT mine, mum.

I’m in a haze of preparing for NOWADAYS this week, and have absolutely no available brain cells, but I need to tell everyone about how insanely cool this festival that we’ve put together is.

It starts on Thursday with a show at our primary venue, the Sanctuary Arts Centre. It’s a huge deconsecrated church that now functions as Dartmouth’s biggest listening room. The Weather Station, Charlotte Cornfield, and Jennah Barry are playing- I can’t believe how lucky we are!

On Friday, everything kicks up into a mad flurry. Jazz at the Sanctuary (Jeff Parker, Dave Grubbs) leads into indie rock at the Buffalo Club (Weird Nightmare, supported by Maritime baddies idialedyournumber and Gizmo), and the night ends with a dance party facilitated by bodysync.

Saturday sees Hayden Pedigo and Nadah El Shazly gracing the Sanctuary stage, followed by Sheer Mag in a 150-cap room (we’re crazy for that).

These are just the headliners of a few shows- there are tons of other artists that I am SO thrilled to be bringing to Dartmouth.

I’m also excited to share an upcoming Halifax show of my own! On November 14, I’ll be supporting Beauts at their album release show at the Bus Stop Theatre. Tickets available here. It’s going to be a beautiful night and I can’t wait :~)

Back to my spreadsheets!

Oct. 8, 2025, afternoon

It’s so wild to hear how warm the weather is remaining down south, while we in the north are seeing the first signs of snow, and folks are scrambled to gather their winter’s firewood. Thanks for sharing Sophie. It’s neat to hear what you’ve been up to! I too go back and forth between being half heartedly off the apps, but then wanting to share and have the exchange about the things I’m up to. So I appreciate what you’re doing here!
